  HKABA NSW Chapter 2009 Food & Wine Appreciation Dinner  
     
  The Hong Kong – Australia Business Association NSW Chapter had successfully organised 2009 Food and Wine Appreciation Dinner which was held on Friday 26 at Moore Park Golden Century Seafood Restaurant jointly sponsored by Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Golden Century Seafood Restaurant and our 5 Platinum Sponsors.

Ultimo Wine Centre, Torbreck and Petaluma were the official wine suppliers for this special event. More than 180 guests enjoyed the delicious ten-course Chinese dinner featuring paired with Australian wines. Many VIP had also come and support this HKABA NSW Chapter first ever Food & Wine Appreciation Dinner. They were:

  Ms. Lorna Wong mentioned that following the Hong Kong SAR Government’s elimination of duties on wine in early 2008, Hong Kong is the first free wine port among major economies. The spontaneous response of the market since then has been encouraging. Wine trading, distribution and other related businesses have all shown notable growth, wine auctions with record – breaking sales , and announcements by various renowned companies to expand their wine trading and distribution business in Hong Kong. Ms. Bonnie Shek commented the 4-6 Nov 2009 HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is a great opportunity for Australian wine manufacture to explore the international market. Mr. Peter Sinn concluded that Hong Kong SAR Government to promote Hong Kong as an Asian wine and gourmet centre through the "World of Food and Wine" Festival . The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) officially launched a brand new marketing platform "Hong Kong Food and Wine Year". Between April 2009 and March 2010.
