HKETO to exhibit paintings from renowned Chinese art group

The Cang Cheng Art exhibition will be held from 28 June 2013Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Sydney will host a new Chinese painting exhibition at Hong Kong House featuring works by artists from the famed Cang Cheng Art Association and Cang Cheng Art Studio from 28 June to 11 July 2013.

The exhibition is an extension of the successful Master Szeto retrospective held earlier this year at Hong Kong Central Library. Master Szeto is the founder of Cang Cheng Art Association and is a disciple of Gao Jianfu, founder of the Lingnan School of painting which heavily influenced 20th Century Chinese painting. The Cang Cheng Art studio was established in 1988 by Mr Nigel Szeto, son of Master Szeto.

Steve Barclay, Director of HKETO said Hong Kong House was the perfect location to host the exhibition, noting that the Cang Cheng Art Association is a well-regarded group in the Hong Kong art scene.

"We are delighted that Cang Cheng is hosting their exhibition at Hong Kong House. Not only will Sydneysiders get to experience works by artists from this renowned association, but they’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful interior of our heritage-listed building," said Mr Barclay.

Leo Chow, the event organiser, said the exhibition was a chance to get insight into the aesthetics of Cang Cheng artists and Chinese paintings in general.

"This exhibition combines works by Cang Cheng Art Association and the Art Studio and it represents two generations of Chinese artists. Visitors will see how traditional Chinese art has evolved over time in terms of technique and concept," said Mr Chow.
