Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project to start at year-end

Construction on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is expected to start by year's end, Chief Secretary Henry Tang says, adding its completion will benefit the three jurisdictions.

After meeting Chinese officials in Zhuhai on June 15, Mr Tang said the bridge's engineering feasibility report has been submitted to the Central Government for final approval.

The three governments concerned will strive to start the project by the end of this year, and have it completed in five years, he added.

Mr Tang said the link would enable people to travel by road between the three cities within an hour, noting the opening of the bridge would cut 20 minutes off the current journey by road from Zhuhai to Hong Kong’s international airport,

He said this would boost planning of mutually beneficial development across the three jurisdictions.
