HKETO scores gold at City of Sydney Dragon Boat Festival

HKETO wins Gold at City of Sydney Dragon Boat FestivalFor the second year running, Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office scored first place at the City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Festival! This year, the HKETO team won a gold trophy for winning the ‘Not for profit/Registered charity’ category.

HKETO Team at City of Sydney Dragon Boat RacesIn the three weeks leading up to the final race in February, the HKETO team trained tirelessly at Blackwattle Bay in Pyrmont under the guidance of 'The Sloths' - a community dragon boat team who have competed in Australian and international races.

Without the help and guidance of The Sloths, HKETO would not have achieved such outstanding results. There was a lot of training involved and it was all thanks to The Sloths captain Villi, Faraday and Alex who helped prepare the team physically and mentally.

During the festival, when they weren't racing, the HKETO team went around Darling Harbour promoting Hong Kong and Hong Kong House. Hong Kong House is the heritage-listed building where HKETO have their office in. It's located just behind the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney (80 Druitt Street), so if you're around, don't forget to take a photo and check out to the amazing Victorian façade!

HKETO would like to thank all our friends and families who have helped made this year's Dragon Boat races such a success.
