Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre the event welcomed over 20,000 trade buyers from around the globe.

Twenty four Australian exhibitors, representing around 40 brands participated in 2013, this included the Wine Australia Pavilion, where daily themed master class sessions were hosted including , 'Classic and Emerging Landmark Australian Wines', 'Australian Shiraz' and 'Regional Heroes', attracting the interest of trade buyers, the majority from Mainland China.

Sixth Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair A Grand Tasting of Australian Wines followed, showcasing 30 top wines rated by James Halliday, Jancis Robinson, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and Decanter.

The increase in Asian buyers was most significant, in particular, the Chinese mainland, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia recorded double-digit growth. Other overseas buyers came from Italy, France, Australia, USA and Canada. To further promote wine culture, the fair was open to public visitors aged 18 or above on 9 November and attracted nearly 24,000 wine lovers, increased by 18% compared to the previous year.

"The number of wine-related companies and wine lovers are both on the rise in Hong Kong. With soaring demand for wine in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong is in an excellent position to capture the business opportunities for being the gateway to the Chinese mainland and Asian markets." HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau said. "The Wine Fair has only run for six years, it is now a major wine sourcing platform in the region."

According to Wine Australia ‘China and Hong Kong leads the growth in Australian bottled wine exports above A$10 per litre and now account for 42 per cent of these high value exports. China is the biggest destination for exports in the above A$10 per litre segment, followed by Hong Kong.
